Calibration Policy

Marvel Manufacturing recommends periodic maintenance, cleaning and calibration of its arbors to ensure continued accuracy, repeatability and long lasting use. In theory, since no internal bearing surfaces are involved in the tilting action of the balance indicator arbor assembly, no wear occurs due to internal friction. In practice, regular handling and routine use causes some friction and wear - at least on the external surface of the shaft.

Furthermore, balance indicator accuracy may be seriously affected by accidental damage that results in distortion (bending, misalignment, etc) of the internal flexible suspension element. This detrimental distortion can occur through excessive downward loading or impact of the projecting (top) end of the suspension rod and/or through inadvertent dropping of the balance arbor.

Individual organizations have normally taken it upon themselves, based upon their own knowledge of usage and care received, to establish internal policies with regard to the periodic return to the factory for calibration check, adjustment or repair. We highly recommend regular inspection and recalibration every one to three years. Once inspected and recalibrated, the owner will receive a Calibration Certificate.
